From August 13 to 25, 2026, five members of the Institute for Radio Astronomy (INRAS-PUCP) participated in the APSCO CubeSat Competition (ACC) Summer Camp, held in Xi’an, China, as part of the activities organized by the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO).
The team consisted of Neils Vílchez, M.Sc., Research Project Coordinator at INRAS-PUCP, along with José Sifuentes, Álvaro Araníbar, Diego Sinche, and Jamin Yauri, members of the INTISAT team.
During the Summer Camp, participants received theoretical and hands-on training covering the different stages involved in CubeSat development.
The activities addressed areas such as structure and thermal control, electrical power systems (EPS), onboard computers (OBC), attitude determination and control systems (ADCS), communications, integration, system-level testing, and ground station operations.
This experience allowed the INTISAT team members to learn about new working methodologies, integration procedures, and validation strategies used in the development of small satellites, strengthening the knowledge they currently apply to the project.
One of the highlights of the program was the presentation of INTISAT’s progress before representatives and judges from eight countries.
The presentation provided an opportunity to showcase the work being carried out by the INRAS-PUCP team on INTISAT’s engineering model, as well as to exchange knowledge and experiences with students, faculty members, and specialists involved in space technology development.
As part of the program, the delegation also participated in technical visits related to infrastructure and systems used for satellite tracking and operations, complementing the training received during the Summer Camp.
Beyond the technical component, the stay in Xi’an gave participants the opportunity to experience a different academic and cultural environment, share experiences with delegations from other countries, and learn about different approaches to space technology development.
The activities took place at the School of Astronautics of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xi’an, a city renowned for its historical significance and its growing scientific and technological development.
